I STILL think about that story on occasion. And come on, that line!
CM Stewart says
Jolene by Dolly Parton is solid. Love that song. π
Can’t take Willie Nelson’s voice; but I don’t mind Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus. I think it’s a nostalgia thing. π
CM Stewart says
Yep, I Walk the line is awesome. Love it.
And I love Honky Tonk Badonkadonk and Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off. I live in a trailer park; what do you expect?!

first country song you remember: Don’t remember what the song was, but one day at my babysitter’s house I heard a bunch of twanging on the radio, then the stereotypical county music voice and thought it was funny (both kinds of funny)…
impression of country music when you were younger? “How can people listen to this, let alone actually like it?”
impression of country music now? I love a few crossover country songs now. See below! π
What makes country music popular? I guess if you grow up listening to it..?
stereotypes about country music (and its fans) true? Speaking from my own experience, yes, the stereotypes are often true.
When were you most into country music? When k.d. lang was on the radio. (Again, crossover.) Love me some lang. π
What made you tune out of country music? The twanging. Not a fan. Usually.
best all-time country artist: Johnny Cash

Worst All Time Artist Lee Greenwood (see below)
Worst song of all time including all future songs: God Bless the U. S. A. (Proud to Be an American) (see above)
country youβre into currently: Not really into it at the moment… it’s more of a summertime thing for me.
future of country music: Hmm… maybe more pop-country, as Christopher said. π
gorillamen says
I know all music has its tropes, but man…that country twang gets to me, too. Add to it how pandering it can be (“Who likes Jesus, the American flag, and tight blue jeans?!” … the crowd goes batshit insane while thinking, “He just described me! ME!!!”), and so much of it is hard to stomach.
