CM Stewart says
What is the first holiday you remember celebrating? I don’t remember celebrating any holidays before my mother moved us from Canada to the USA. Then most major holidays were spent at my grandmother’s house. So I’ll say Thanksgiving (as it’s only a month before Christmas).
What was the “big” holiday in your household growing up? Christmas. Easter was big, too. Then Thanksgiving, and 4th of July.
What’s your favorite holiday now? They’re all just days to me now (except for any day in October deemed to be part of Oktoberfest).
What was your favorite holiday as a kid? 4th of July. ‘Cause fireworks.
What’s the stupidest federally recognized holiday? It’s a tie between Inauguration Day and Columbus Day.
What’s the stupidest non-recognized holiday? Black Friday is stupid and sad. Eradicate it.
What isn’t a holiday that should be? Voting Day should be a federal holiday with paid time off so people can actually vote, if they’re into voting.
Why do you think there are so many holidays? Dunno. Ask Ohio, they have tons of them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_holidays_in_the_United_States#Ohio_legal_holidays
What holiday do you think Americans should co-opt from another country/culture? Any and all Satanic holidays (do those count?). Just because it would be fun to watch certain people’s heads explode. I’d even make popcorn. 🙂
Whose birth or death should be a national holiday? None. Nada.
What do you like most about holidays? Hmmm… many people seem to be more cheerful on the major holidays, or at least act more cheerful.
What do you dislike? The rampant consumerism, and the fake “war on Christmas” the fascist Faux News nutbags trot out every year.

Oh, yes: the faux War on Christmas. Ugh. And I can’t believe I didn’t mention Easter along the way, because while it never carried ANY religious meaning to me, it was another candy holiday, like Halloween!
