You know, I never read the comic, but it’s one of my all time favorite moives. I was 10 when that movie came out, and I loved it so much, I actually dressed up as the Rocketeer that year for Halloween. My dad and I went up to Griffith Observatory and he took pictures of me running up the stairs by the telescope and other areas! Unfortunatly, I think those pictures are long gone or buried somewhere in our garage, but it’s still one of my favorite memories as a kid. And I think it’s one of the most fun moives ever made.
It’s a great movie. The comic is a lot of fun, too. There are different jet packs, but the look of the comic and movie are, as you point out, so much fun.
Hopefully the photos you mention are just buried somewhere and they’ll turn up — sounds like a great memory! Curtis wears the costume very well, and the effort on the comic book version of the jet pack is great. Oddly enough, I was watching this about 30 minutes ago: http://youtu.be/4jYZTFBTKsM And after this reply, found this: http://youtu.be/m_yKvG1uLnk (The first couple minutes has Adam Savage in his movie-version Rocketeer costume.
Thanks for the reply! You’ll get no argument around here about how great The Rocketeer is!
